Chic To Relaunch After Two Years

Chic To Relaunch After Two Years

Two years after being suspended and awaiting relaunch, Northern & Shell’s Chic magazine is set to relaunch with only the editor Ruth Corbett remaining from the original editorial team.

In June 1996 Northern & Shell suspended the title a year after buying it from Hamerville Magazines. The relaunched version is to be released today and will have the same cover price as before at £2.25.

The magazine is still targeting the mature woman (‘the woman who wasn’t born yesterday’, as the strapline goes) and is hoping to sell 60,000 copies a month: its circulation at the time of suspension was around 40,000.

Contributing to the editorial of fashion, beauty, careers and celebrity will be Edwina Currie, Eve Pollard, Libby Purves and Fay Weldon. Corbett says that the magazine’s closest competitors are She and Good Housekeeping.
