A new religious cable channel will be launching in the UK on October 14. ARK2 Television has raised £1.8m for the launch and will be based at HTV in Bristol.
ARK2 has recruited Team Saatchi to oversee advertising and an advertising and sales house will be appointed soon. Revenue for ARK2 will also come from cable subscriptions once on air. The channel carried out research on faith and belief last year: it revealed that over 70% of people in Britain believe in God, yet few (less than 10%) go to church and many desire a greater degree of spirituality.
Programming includes debate and light entertainment, a wide range of music output and a special emphasis on quality children’s programmes. Most of the programmes will be made in the UK.
