Chrysalis Radio has secured Telewest Broadband as the six-figure sponsor of Heart 100.7 in the West Midlands.
The 12-month deal, planned and negotiated by Media Insight, will run during Nick Piercy’s Evening Drivetime show and will promote Telewest Broadband’s blueyonder 2Mb internet service, which claims to be four times faster than other leading broadband suppliers.
On air activity will include sponsorship credits, trailers and weekly listener competitions, in addition to a number of monthly online competitions, created by Chrysalis Radio Interactive, to give away digital cameras.
Commenting on the deal, John Orriss, head of marketing for blueyonder at Telewest Broadband, said: “The sponsorship will bring the benefits of broadband to life for the listener, raising the awareness of blueyonder broadband 2Mb and positioning the service as the UK’s fastest home cable internet service.”
Jonathan Cook, Media Insight’s managing partner, added: “This unique association will complement and enhance the overall effectiveness of Telewest Broadband’s heavyweight radio expenditure.”
The latest RAJAR listening figures for the three months to June 2003 show that Heart 100.7 saw its weekly reach decline by 4.4% year on year to 897,000. However, London’s Heart 106.2 put in a stronger performance during the same period, with its weekly reach increasing by 11.4% year on year to 1,852,000.
Earlier this month Chrysalis Radio Sales announced plans to create a dedicated brand team to offer clients integrated sales and sponsorship opportunities across its London-based speech and news stations, LBC 97.3 FM and LBC News 1152 AM (see Chrysalis Launches LBC Brand Team For National Clients).
