Chrysalis Expands Digital Radio Offering

Chrysalis is expanding its digital radio offering with the launch of Heart Digital in Scotland and The Arrow in London.

Heart Digital will launch in January on the central Scotland regional multiplex and will broadcast to around 2.75 million listeners in Edinburgh and Glasgow. The Arrow will also launch in the New Year and will broadcast on the third London digital radio multiplex to around 8.5 million people in the capital.

Chrysalis radio’s operational director, Mark Flanagan, said: “As digital radio takes off advertisers will be able to buy into these two brands across most of the UK’s key population centres.”

Chrysalis radio’s chief executive, Phil Riley, added: “We are committed to working towards a digital future and these two deals will allows our Heart and Arrow brands to add further listening choice across London and Central Scotland.”

Chrysalis, which is part of the MXR digital radio consortium (see MXR Launches Third Digital Radio Multiplex), released its end of year financial results last month revealing that the group’s radio business had outperformed the market in the year to 31 August 2001, with revenues rising by 18.3% to £44m (see Strong Radio Performance Aids Chrysalis Results).
