Chrysalis Radio Launches On The Net
Chrysalis Radio has today launched an internet service for its two radio brands, Heart and Galaxy. The online facilities allow real time listening to be combined with interactivity, enabling users to buy CDs and find related information about songs being played.
The websites incorporate all of Chrysalis’ current five Galaxy and two Heart stations around the country and are tailored to the particular area to which they broadcast. Time Out and other local listings guides provide information about concerts and events within the area as part of the web package. A mini-viewer allows the listener to continue listening while checking email or surfing the net.
This is the most advanced web radio facility to be launched in the UK. It combines the qualities of the established station brand with a complementary package of advanced e-commerce facilities. With its Heart stations, Chrysalis has access to a target e-commerce audience; women between the ages of 25-44 are seen to be most likely to engage in shopping over the internet.
Chrysalis has conducted extensive research into the online radio market; studies suggest that 59% of web users are interested in the concept. The group expects to have 1,000,000 site hits per month, based on the fact that 21% of the adult population regularly use the internet. They have linked up with established net companies including Yalplay, BTClick, and Taxi and provide direct links to advertisers’ websites.
