The media communications companies of the recently merged Tempus and WPP (see WPP Will Buy Tempus), CIA and The Media Edge, are to be merged, creating a global group called Mediaedge:CIA.

Charles Courtier, currently global CEO of The Media Edge, commented: “The two companies have the same vision and values and we are working towards the same objectives. Our pooled skills, resources and volume will mean that our ability to connect brands with consumers will be further strengthened.”

Courtier will now become executive chairman of the merged group, heading it together with Mainardo do Nardis, who is currently CEO of CIA, but who will become chief executive officer of the new group.

CIA has 57 offices in 28 markets, with particular strength in Europe and smaller operations in the US, Africa and Asia Pacific. Meanwhile The Media Edge has 103 offices in 78 countries, with particular strength in the US and Latin America. With combined billings of $17bn worldwide, the new company promises to have a strong position globally.
