Cine-UK Unveils Plans For 12 New Multiplexes

Cine-UK yesterday announced the plans for its first 12 multiplexes in the UK which will be opened during 1996 and 1997 and will be known as “CINEWORLD”.

Cine-UK aims to open at least 20 “Cineworld” multiplex cinemas over the next five years and is focusing its developments on smaller catchment areas as well as targeting the larger under-screened centres of the population. Cine-UK is hoping not only to take customers away from other competitors with this move, but to also encourage new customers who have previously not visited the cinema due to a lack of facilities.

The first “Cineworld” to open will be the 12 screen multiplex in Stevenage in the summer of 1996. Cine-UK’s Chief Executive Officer, Steve Wiener, former managing director of Warner Bros Theatres explains:” Our plans to bring “Cineworld” to locations all over the country are expanding on almost a daily basis and “Cineworld” has become a major new force in the movie world.”
