Cinema Admissions Hit Record Levels In February

Cinema admission in February this year averaged 3.59 million per week – a 35% increase on January, according to figures released by Carlton Screen Advertising.

February’s admissions were higher than any monthly total in the previous 12 months and with the exception of February 1998, which was boosted by Titanic‘s success, the highest February average in 29 years. Total admissions for February was 14.4 million, a 5.2% decrease of on February 1998’s 15.1 million.

February releases included the two very successful films, A Bug’s Life and Shakespeare In Love. A Bug’s Life has become the seventh biggest film of all time, grossing £22.9 million.
