Cinema Attendances At Highest Level Since Star Wars

UK Cinemas in 1993 had their best year for admissions for 15 years; this increase is attributable to big blockbusters such as Jurassic Park, Aladdin, The Bodyguard and The Fugitive.

Initial results from the new CAVIAR survey show that these new admissions come not just from existing cinemagoers increasing their frequency but also from new and even lapsed cinemagoers. CAVIAR show that some 4 million people aged 7 or over discovered or rediscovered cinema in 1993, as the proportion of cinemagoers in the country rose to a modern day record of 69%.

The CAVIAR results are released on February 17th.
