Cinema Viewing Figures – Down 12.5% In August

Average weekly cinema admission figures for August were 2.98m, a 12.5% decrease in admissions compared with the same month last year, but still higher than July’s figure.

Among films shown in the same period last year were True Lies, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Wolf, starring Jack Nicholson, and Stargate; this year’s August films included Waterworld, starring Kevin Costner, Die Hard 3 With a Vengeance starring Bruce Willis and Nine Months – starring Hugh Grant.

The actual admissions figure for August 95 was 13,184,173 compared with the August ’94 figure of 15,062,074. The moving annual total for September ’95 was 113,486,465. The same period last year saw a moving annual total of 118,794,751.
