Citizen Press and Thomson Regional Newspapers have failed to meet their end of August deadline for Citizen to buy the Reading Evening Post and the other titles in the Thomson subsidiary Thames Valley Newspapers. (Newsline 18/8)
The agreement by TRN to sell to Citizen Press has therefore formally lapsed. According to Alistair Nee, md of TVN, Citizen does intend to purchase TVN and “to avoid any further false starts no timetable has been set for the completion of it.”
