Classic FM Grows Website With Gardening Deal

Classicfm.com has signed a six figure deal for content from gardening internet and mail order retail group Greenfingers. Simon Ward, new media and digital director at Classic FM, said that the move was designed to give users of the website “the kind of content they want”, after research showed a desire for more in-depth lifestyle features.

The partnership, initially for 12 months, will see Greenfingers provide daily updated content to the radio station’s website and contribute to a weekly gardening feature presented by Monty Don as part of the station’s flagship current affairs programme Classic Newsnight.

George Plumtre, who set up Greenfingers, said: “Greenfingers is constantly looking for new ideas to further develop our strong multi-channel strategy. The Classic FM listener profile fits well with our customers’ and the deal will be of significant benefit to both our companies.”
