Classic FM Profitable For The First Time Ever Over Six Months
GWR Group plc., owner of Classic FM, has released its interim results for the six months ended 30 September 1997. The Group reports a rise of 27% for profit on ordinary activities before taxation to £6.1m. Turnover on continuing operations is up to £35.2m; a rise of 38% year on year. Earnings per share rose 0.2p year on year to 3.9p. Classic FM has become profitable for the first time ever in a financial period.
The Group is also to launch a new national sales house on 1 January 1998 which will service both Classic FM and regional stations (subscribers see GWR Announces New Sales Operation).
