Classic FM Signs Major New Concert Deal

Classic FM GCap Media’s Classic FM announced it will sponsor a series of classical concerts at London’s indigO2 and O2 arena in a new seven figure deal.

Classic FM has teamed up with the owners and operators of the O2 – AEG – to be both the sponsor and media partner for the concerts, which are set to run from October 2008 to February 2009.

The series of new classical music concerts at indigO2 will feature artists such as pianist Boris Berezovsky and Grammy winner Garrick Olsen.

A multi-platform promotional campaign to support the series will include full branding in the venues, exposure across all the main video screens on the site as well as ticket promotions and artist interviews on Classic FM.

The campaign will also tie in with Classicfm.com and Classic FM Magazine with daily podcasts and articles.

David Campbell, Chief Executive of AEG Europe, said: “Classic FM is the radio station for us to partner with for our new classical ventures.”

In addition to the series of concerts, Classic FM has also signed up to become the exclusive media partner for the Carmina Burana opera at the O2 in January next year.

The latest Rajar figures for Q1 2008 show that Classic FM has a weekly reach of 5,622 listeners, following a year on year decline of 10.8% (see BBC Radio 2 Sees Weekly Reach Increase).
