CNN To Send Personalised News

CNN To Send Personalised News

International news company CNN is considering extending its online services by creating individualised news bulletins which will be sent to subscribers.

According to press reports CNN is planning to roll out a news service early next year which will collect information on users and then send personalised news bulletins to them via e-mail. The service will apparently be predominantly text-based though there will be the potential for video and sound clips to be included.

This is similar to the Electronic Telegraph‘s scheme which was reported on Newsline last month *Newspapers To Be Sent By E-Mail, whereby sections of the Telegraph’s on-line newspaper will be e-mailed to users. Danny Meadows-Klue, product manager at the Electronic Telegraph, told Newsline that this service will be ready in December though he played down the personalised nature of the bulletins, saying that only the main headlines would be featured.

Regarding CNN’s plans he said that it would be “extremely difficult for international services to be relevant to UK readers.”
