COI Dominate Latest Radio Awards
COI, Chiquita Bananas and Cable Communications have won awards in this month’s Aerial awards for radio advertising.
It is COI who dominate the awards however since they won two awards for their Army ads entitled Anti-Tank and Think. They were made by Saatchi & Saatchi and push the total number of COI Aerial Awards to five for 1996: they have also won with ads for Blood Donors and the Department of Transport.
The judge for this month’s Aerials was Cliff Francis, joint creative director at Saatchi & Saatchi. He said: “I’m not going to apologise for picking Saatchi ads but radio is all about listening and I think these two ads were all about listening and determining between sounds. You find yourself drawn in almost involuntarily, they are quite challenging.”
The Cable Communications ad was called Cartoon and the Chiquita Bananas ad was entitled Chess. Finals night for the awards is 29 October, but the closing date for entries is 5 July.
