Commercial Radio Revenue Continues To Climb
The latest confirmed revenue from the Radio Authority shows commercial radio’s advertising revenue is continuing to rise, up to £69.7 million for the period July to September, up 22.7% on 1994. This puts the moving annual total at £259.6 million, with three year growth at 88%.
More than half of this is made up of national advertisers, 55%, up by 26.1%. Indications from the national sales houses are that the Autumn quarter will set more records, according to the Radio Advertising Bureau.
Douglas MacArthur, managing director of the Radio Advertising Bureau commented; “After the massive growth of the last two years, several commentators were questioning whether Commercial Radio revenue growth had peaked. The simplest way to counter the sceptics is with the figures – highest ever audience share and highest ever advertising revenue for Commercial Radio. I am very confident that Commercial Radio will see 1996 as the fastest growing advertising medium for the fourth successive year.”
