Complaint Upheld Against Gangland Documentary
The latest Broadcasting Standards Commission has upheld a complaint against the BBC1 documentary programme The Underworld: The Krays which alleged involvement in a 1960’s murder. Jeremiah Callaghan complained that he had been unfairly implicated in the murder of Frank Mitchell, which he felt was an infringement of his privacy. The commission agreed and also felt that the programme makers did not consult him to put his side of the story.
Another complaint has been upheld against the makers of The Truth About Women by a couple who were featured having a natural home birth. The clips of the couple were intercut with glib comments made by celebrities about natural childbirth. The commission found that the programme-makers had given the couple the misleading impression that the documentary would be a sympathetic, serious and discussion about active childbirth.
Lucozade’s advert featuring two characters from Viz had a complaint upheld against it regarding the use of bad language.
