Confirmed, Grade Moves To First Leisure

First Leisure Corporation has announced that Michael Grade will be leaving his post at Channel 4 to take up his new role as First Leisure’s executive chairman. Grade said: “I shall ensure First Leisure continues on its present and highly successful course.”

It is reported that First Leisure intend to expand the company’s entertainment interests and move into film distribution. Grade will be probably be instrumental in these plans. First Leisure currently operates bingo halls, bowling alleys and discos, Blackpool Tower is its most famous holding.

Grade became non-executive chairman of First Leisure in 1995, following the death of his uncle, Lord Delft. Delfont bought First Leisure for £43.5 million from Trusthouse Forte in 1982.
