Cordiant Brings Dividends

In Cordiant’s AGM trading statement, Charlie Scott, chairman, commented: “1996 has been a good year for the company and that is reflected in the declaration of a dividend, the first since 1990. With financial stability restored to the group, your Board has been in a position to consider a number of options that would continue to move the company forward. On 21 April, I outlined our proposal to demerge the group into two distinct businesses, both of which would operate as listed companies. The Board considers that this strategy will provide the impetus to accelerate revenue and margin growth in both companies.”

Cordiant anticipate that they will achieve their aim of increasing revenue growth in line with the advertising market by the end of 1997. In the first quarter of this year revenue increased by 5%, approximately 1% of which was due to acquisitions. Major new business wins in 1997 include CIBA Speciality Chemicals, Delta Airlines and Telefonica.
