Coronation Street And The Sun To Launch Scratchcards
Granada Television has confirmed that it will be launching Coronation Street scratchcards in The Sun newspaper. Readers of The Sun could win a £10,000 daily cash prize by answering questions about the current storylines in The Street. The game, which will feature only in the newspaper and not onscreen, could begin as soon as next month.
Initial plans are for 250 million scratchcards to be printed during the first twelve months of the promotion, which will be supported by television and newspaper advertising.
Mick Desmond, Chief Executive of Laser, said: “The off-air synergy between the UK’s favourite programme and The Sun shows a fresh and original approach to exploiting television programmes. Hitching Coronation Street to The Sun opens up a whole range of possibilities for developing innovative relationships.”
