Coronation Street Magazine – Review

Coronation Street Magazine – Review

This week Coronation Street, the official magazine of the programme launched. The glossy A4 monthly is not very thick, with only 36 pages; only three of these are display ad pages. There is no classified section.

The magazine is full of photos of the stars, with quite a cluttered style; it does not have an upmarket feel. The editorial covers characters and storylines from the soap, both past and present. Each issue will give a full summary of latest happenings in “the Street”. The first issue has a pull-out and keep wedding album of the marriage of Reg and Mo. There are features both on the characters and the actors who portray them; this month there is an article on Ken Morley, the actor who plays Reg; a feature on the corners shop as well as regular slots such as the Archivist and Have I Missed Anything.

The initial print run is 150,000. The cover price is £1.75, which seems a lot for a 36 page magazine. The anticipated main readership is predominantly female, 25-40 years old.
