Cosmopolitan Keeps Lead Over Marie Claire

Cosmopolitan Keeps Lead Over Marie Claire

The National Magazine Company has released a rather disappointing set of ABCs; although, despite Cosmopolitan’s fall in circulation this period, by 0.9% or 4,188 copies, it still managed to maintain its lead over arch rival, IPC’s Marie Claire. With Cosmo’s new figure at 456,394, the lead is now diminished to 3,873 copies.

Harpers and Queen fared the best of all Nat Mag’s titles in terms of year on year % gain, up 5.55% to 90,201. House Beautiful was the only other of their titles to better last year’s July to December figure, up 0.28% to 326,831.

Esquire posted a disappointing fall in circulation, despite the rest of the male market continuing its upward trend; Esquire so far is the only male interest title to record a fall compared to last year, down 4% to below the 300,000 mark. IPC’s Loaded was up 82%; FHM was up 41%, Face was up 10%, Sky was up 4% and GQ and Arena were both up by nearly 2%.

Sainsbury’s Magazine, also out today, has continued its circulation increase since its launch in May 1993. It is up 7.8% to 337,056.
