Cosmopolitan Loses Ground On Marie Claire

National Magazines has released their awaited January to June ABC figures. Whilst Cosmopolitan has recorded a reasonable increase on last year’s figure, up 9.4%, its figure of 456,131 is just 1,022 copies ahead of its IPC rival, Marie Claire. Marie Claire’s Jan to June ABC was up 14.34% year on year to 455,109. Compared to the previous period, Marie Claire has increased by 5.7% or over 24,000 copies; Cosmopolitan however has lost 1% or 4,451 copies. Two years ago Cosmopolitan had a lead of over 160,000 copies on Marie Claire.

However, most Nat Mags circulations recorded increases on last year; the biggest was from Esquire, up by 15% to 110,798; Company recorded an increase of 14% year on year to 305,829. The only titles to record a poor performance compared to last year were Country Living, down 2.5% and House Beautiful, down 3% to 311,050. However, Homes and Ideas, IPC’s rival to House Beautiful recorded a decrease year on year of 5.8%, to 276,555.
