Cranmer Appointed As Chairman Of JICIMS

JICIMS Mark Cranmer has been appointed chairman of JICIMS – the Joint Industry Committee for Internet Measurement Systems – in a move by the body to establish a single online measurement panel.

JICIMS is currently searching for a research company that will become the sole supplier of an online measurement currency, similar to Barb for TV and Postar for outdoor.

The online measure is expected to include engagement measures such as dwell time, as well as providing a currency for measuring online reach and frequency.

It is hoped that the tendering process will begin by the end of the year, with JICIMS currently considering seven proposals from media research companies to create the online currency.

Guy Phillipson, chief executive of the Internet Advertising Bureau, said: “At this stage, it’s vital that advertisers, agencies and media owners are aligned to the requirements and funding for JICIMS.”

He added: “Mark is just the man to bring these parties together for a positive conclusion.”

Cranmer, formerly EMEA chief executive at Starcom MediaVest and world director of Publicis Group Media, hopes to “bring the industry parties together to reach a definitive conclusion within 2008”.

He said: “I’m looking forward to working with the board and industry stakeholders to clarify whether the JICIMS vision can be brought to reality and serve the industry effectively as the internet becomes a more pivotal part of the communications landscape for brands.”
