Creative category launched for 2009 Newspaper Awards

Newspapers The 2009 Newspaper Awards has added a new category to reward advertising and marketing agencies that use newspapers as a central part of their media campaigns.

The creative award, named ‘Campaign of the Year’, will go to the agency who has used newspapers the “most creatively and successfully to promote a product or service”.

Gary Cullum, director of The Newspaper Awards, said: “The newspaper industry is facing a particularly challenging time but it still represents one of the most powerful and cost-effective media to help promote products and services.

“The aim of this new award is twofold. Firstly to find the agency which has best and most creatively used the newspaper medium as part of an overall campaign and secondly to demonstrate just how effective the printed newspaper can be when looking to advertise a product,” he added.

The Newspaper Awards, which was founded 13 years ago, features 19 separate categories – the winners will be announced at a ceremony in London next April.
