CWC Brings Digital Cable To London

Cable & Wireless Communications has begun to roll out the UK’s first national digital cable service in London and the South-East. The group has been trialling the service in Manchester since July (see Digital TV To Cost CWC £60m).

Digital facilities will be available to the 600,000 customers in the area by the end of next month. The group also announced the introduction of interactive services, announced in May (see Cable & Wireless Communications Rolls Out Digital TV Offerings), to customers in Manchester from early November.

Marketing director for the group Janet Somerville said: “We have been delighted with the level of consumer demand for our digital service in Manchester…We are constantly reviewing our roll-out plans to ensure as many people as possible can gain access to the services as soon as possible.”
