CWC Sign Up Man Utd TV Channel
Cable operator, Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC), has signed up MUTV, the Man Utd-dedicated channel, to be carried across its UK cable network. The channel will be available to over 800,000 CWC subscribers.
The channel broadcasts between 6pm and 12 midnight each day, and is already being carried on Sky Digital; BSkyB is a part-owner in the channel along with Granada and the club itself (see Man Utd. Launches Own TV Channel). Sky has also made an agreed offer of £623.4 million to buy the whole football club (see Manchester United And Sky Claim A ‘Natural Synergy’).
MUTV’s chief executive, Paul Ridley, says: “This agreement further endorses the strong appeal of MUTV. We are delighted by the positive response to the channel and are confident that it will be a great success.”
Graeme Stanley, director of programming at CWC, said: “Manchester forms a large part of the company’s Northern franchise area and we place a great value in being an integral part of the community.
