Daewoo Launches Grand Prix Showjumping Championship

Daewoo, which launched in the UK nine months ago, has announced it is sponsoring its own showjumping championship. The Daewoo Grand Prix Showjumping Championship Series is Daewoo’s first major sponsorship venture in the UK, and actually introduces a full championship into the county show circuit.

The championship will consist of 12 Grands Prix during 1996, culminating in a final at the Royal Show in 1997. Each qualifier carries a prize fund of £4,500 and the final £15,000. Daewoo confidently expect their Grand Prix to attract the best UK showjumping talent. Olympic medal-winner David Broome CBE said, “This is superb news – I will be attending as many of the county show qualifiers as I can to promote the series.”
