Daily Express Launches New Supplements

The Daily Express is launching a new pull-out supplement on Monday 22 August called Sportsday.

The colour supplement will appear every Monday, focussing on all the main sporting events of the weekend, to complement existing sports coverage in the paper. As well as the coverage of the weekend’s sports, it will carry features including “My Sporting Heroes” by a celebrity guest writer, “Team of the Week” where Express readers will pick their star player. Rates for the supplement will be as for the main paper.

The Express is also to change its Saturday supplement to become a higher quality feature, more like the Daily Mail’s Weekend, from Saturday 17 September.

The new supplement, replacing Saturday Review, will be called This Week. It will carry full TV listings and will be printed on paper the quality of the Mail’s Weekend. Further details should be available shortly.

The Express did not fare well in the latest round of newspaper ABCs; Today, however, which launched a new Saturday supplement in July, increased circulation by 9.5% year on year.
