Daily Mail Gets Go Ahead On BUP Bid

The Daily Mail & General Trust has been given the all clear by the Department of Trade and Industry to go ahead with its takeover of regional publishing group Bristol United Press (BUP). The £122 million offer for BUP (see Daily Mail Makes £122m Agreed Offer For Bristol United Press) has now become wholly unconditional and has been accepted by the vast majority of BUP shareholders.

Bristol United Press produces a number of free and paid-for titles in the South West region, including the Bristol Evening Post and the Western Daily Press. The Daily Mail & General Trust publishes the Daily Mail, Mail On Sunday, Evening Standard and London Metro under its Associated Newspapers division. The company also owns regional newspaper group, Northcliffe Newspapers.
