Daily Mail’s Profits Rise To £85.5m

Daily Mail and General Trust today reported financial results for the year ended September 29 which show pre-tax profits rising 28% to £85.5m on the back of turnover of just over £1bn.

The national newspaper arm of DMGT, Associated Newspapers, enjoyed success with both The Daily Mail and Mail On Sunday increasing circulations by 13% and 5% respectively. Ad revenue was strong on all the group’s titles, with an overall increase of 10%.

In terms of Channel One , the local cable channel, losses were higher than expected due to the “disappointingly slow” expansion of cable subscribers.
