Daily Telegraph Extends Its Web Content
Hollinger Telegraph, which owns the Daily Telegraph and the Sunday Telegraph, is planning to launch a raft of internet channels by the end of this year. The Electronic Telegraph website is to be revamped as a portal leading to a number of individual channels, the first of which, a sports site, will launch in September.
Electronic Telegraph was the first online newspaper to launch in the UK in 1994. Its relaunch will create a new technical platform allowing content to be navigated more easily and customisation options will be available.
Matthew Duffy, business development director at Electronic Telegraph, said the site will have “broader and deeper content.” The website reported 20 million page impressions in the latest ABCE audit and its target now is to build on this success.
Sections of the Telegraph will be given more independence and will have their own domain names, beginning with sport.telegraph, to be followed by travel and personal finance in October and November. “The new sites will leverage Telegraph content but with lots of added bells and whistles,” said Duffy.
