Daily Telegraph To Launch New Supplement
The Daily Telegraph is to launch a weekly tabloid supplement entitled ‘Connected’ on Tuesday April 16th.
Under the editorship of Ben Rooney it will carry features on general developments and trends in all areas of information technology as well as reviews on computer software, hardware and the Internet. Other regular items to appear each week in ‘Connected’ include a letters page and product reviews, regular columns from Jonathan Ross, Charles Shaar Murray and Michael Bywater plus features from Robert Uhlig, The Daily Telegraph technology correspondent.
Designed by Clive Crook, The Telegraph’s new Design Director, ‘Connected’ is a 16-page tabloid section, with four colour pages, backset with the main paper and published every Tuesday. It will carry display advertising and has secured Sun Microsystems as a sponsor for the NetLife section. The launch of the supplement will be supported by national television advertising on the evening of Monday April 22nd.
Ben Rooney commented: “This supplement differs from our competitors because it covers all areas of technology in the broadest sense, not just computers and the Internet. Technology is not something that happens to other people but to all of us and this is what ‘Connected’ will focus on. As well as appealing to our existing readers’ interest in technology, we hope ‘Connected’ will also attract new readers interested in technology, many of whom are already reading Electronic Telegraph.” The supplement is further described as “accessible” and “uncluttered by jargon”.
