Dance Music Monthly Nabs New Editor From Emap

Mixmag Former FHM Collections editor Nick de Cosemo has been appointed as the new editor of dance title Mixmag.

De Cosemo, former editor of Emap’s fashion spin-off and associate editor of FHM, will take up the editorship of Development Hell’s dance music monthly on May 8.

Current editor Andrew Harrison moves to editor-in-chief and returns to the publisher’s other music title The Word.

Mixmag shed copies from its circulation at the last consumer magazine ABC release, with its total down 7.6% year on year for July to December 2006.

The title now records a circulation of around 39,000 after a decline of more than 3,200 copies in real terms (see ABC Results Jul-Dec 2006:Q Mag Remains King Of Music Sector Despite Circulation Decline). Development Hell, an independent company, bought the title from Emap in 2005.

Meanwhile The Word has steadily increased its circulation since its creation in 2003, now boasting a total of more than 33,500 issues.

“The dance music scene is incredibly vibrant at present and Mixmag is at the heart of this buzz,” said De Cosemo. “I’ve inherited a first class team and canšt wait for us to push the magazine forward, staying true to our core readership and attracting new converts in search of a credible, controversial and comprehensive companion to their clubbing exploits.”
