ITV1’s spectacular Dancing on Ice show returned with more than 9 million peak viewers this weekend.
The new ice-skating reality show season, which features 13 celebrities including Jeremy Edwards, Melinda Messenger and Michael Underwood, pulled in over 8.4 million average viewers and a 32% audience share between 7pm and 8.30pm last night.
Dancing on Ice: The Skate off also managed to secure 6.8 million peak viewers and a 26.1% audience share at the later time of 9.30pm, helping ITV1 bank the peak audience all evening.
However, BBC One stole the show on Saturday evening with its classic line-up of The National Lottery, Casualty, Outtake TV, BBC News and its ever-popular football roundup Match of the Day – The National Lottery and Casualty peaked with more than 6.8 and 6.7 million average viewers respectively.
Meanwhile, Friday night saw the new series of ITV1’s crime drama Trail & Retribution bag the top spot with over 6 million peak viewers.
The first of six episodes, which featured a guest appearance from Tamsin Egerton, attracted 5.8 million average viewers and a 23.6% audience share between 9pm and 10pm.
At the same time, Channel 4’s Celebrity Big Brother eviction night show with Davina McCall picked up more than 3.4 million average viewers – its highest ratings all weekend.
