Owners of the Observer, the Lonrho Group, intend to meet with rival bidders for the paper this week to determine its future market value. It is understood that Newspaper Publishing has put in a bid estimated between £12m and £30m with The Guardian and Manchester Evening News offering £15m for the paper. Members of the board will meet today to discuss the bids.
