Decoder Pirates To Be Prosecuted

BSkyB and News Datacom, the “smart card” decoder company, said yesterday that they will pursue all pirate card producers in both the civil and the criminal courts. BSkyB said yesterday that “Pirates are nothing more than common thieves”. This decision to prosecute is a deliberate change of policy by the company and an indication that the threat from these cards is being taken more seriously. BSkyB said that it is “determined to ensure that the pirates do not succeed either technically or economically”.

Marcher Sound has now turned down advertising from Satellite Decoder Systems, the company which sells pirate decoders.
