Dennis Offers More To Advertisers With New I.T Portal

Dennis Interactive, the multimedia arm of Dennis Publishing, is investing £1m in the launch of a new I.T portal, which it says will offer advertisers greater reach and more sophisticated targeting.

The new site, www.pcpro.co.uk, brings together content from Dennis’ existing PC Pro, Computer Shopper, Computer Buyer and Mac User portals and offers advertisers the ability to deliver customised campaigns targeting around 400,000 unique users per month.

Associate publisher of the IT Group of Dennis web sites, Peter Wootton, said: “Bringing all of these brands together is a logical development. We are the first website in the UK to offer this level of ad targeting and customisation, and we are already getting an enormous amount of interest from advertisers.

He added: “High reach coupled with precise targeting offers zero advert wastage, something the internet has been promising for years. It will remove the need for media planners and marketers to buy adverts on average demographics produced from surveys, and allow true targeting based on actual data about each user. We expect to see a spectacular growth in user numbers and advertising revenue.”

The new site will also feature daily news from Theregister.co.uk and will offer users access to over 30,000 products from electronics retailers and PC vendors in an attempt to become the UK’s first broad-based I.T portal.

The launch of www.pcpro.co.uk is the third high-profile launch from Dennis Interactive in the last six months. In March the company unveiled a new motoring internet portal, www.autoexpress.co.uk, combining content from Auto Express and evo (see Dennis Sinks £1m Into Motoring Portal), and last September £2m was poured into the launch of a new games portal, www.computerandvideogames.com, which Dennis described as a “complete online fix for addicts of computer and video games” (see Dennis Launches Games Portal).
