Deputy Editor to Follow Alton On The Observer

Following the appointment of a new editor, Roger Alton (see Newsline), Paul Webster has moved up from assistant foreign editor to deputy editor on The Observer.

Roger Alton commented: “Not only is Paul one of the best news people around, with wide experience of both domestic and foreign, he is also hugely liked. I enjoyed working with him on the Guardian enormously and knew of his ability to inspire great ideas from those around him.”
