Deputy Fills The Editor’s Chair At FHM

Emap’s popular ‘laddish’ title FHM has got a new editor in the form of Anthony Noguera. Formerly the title’s deputy editor, Noguera has stepped up to take on the new role following the promotion of FHM’s former editor, Ed Needham, to editor-in-chief of projects overseas (see Newsline).

FHM, which is currently the most popular men’s title with a circulation of 751,493, has rocketed in popularity since 1996, and in its latest year on year ABC comparisons recorded a proportional gain of 16.7% of its circulation. It’s peers in the men’s lifestyle market include IPC’s Loaded and Dennis Publishing’s Maxim, and the recently controversial GQ..

There does not seem to be any major revamp plan, but Noguera did suggest that gradual changes would develop. The ‘laddish’ editorial style of FHM, which was pioneered by the likes of James Brown with Loaded (see Newsline), are what have made the genre of magazines as successful as they are today.
