According to Digital TV Europe, BSkyB will offer a subscription to the Premier League on Now TV from as early as next month.
Now TV is Sky’s non-subscription film service, available separately from their DTH products. Sky have always intended to expand the new service beyond films but the announcement has taken many by surprise.
BT shocked the television industry in June when it was announced that they had secured 38 matches in the 2013 – 2014 season, after a bidding war with Sky.
DTVE understands that Now TV will offer access to sports coverage, including football and Formula 1, for less than £10 (€12.50) per day.
