Dinosaurs And Dancing Feet Boost October Cinema Admissions
Ballet-dancing Brit film Billy Elliot helped cinema admissions during October reach 14m, an average of 3.16m per week and a 5.1% increase year on year. The toe-tapping top box office draw managed to bring in £10.7m, a figure closely followed by Disney’s epic Dinosaur, which gathered receipts of £10.5m.
Close to £10m of the takings for the month were taken by the top 15 films during the weekend of 27-29 October (half term holidays for many school children). This was the fifth highest box office weekend so far this year.

Admissions for the year so far total 122 million, a figure which has grown 6% in the year on year analysis. Last year November’s big hitters were The Sixth Sense, The World Is Not Enough and The Blair Witch Project. It is predicted that the top films for November of this year will be Charlie’s Angels, What Lies Beneath, Billy Elliot and Bedazzled, but they are not deemed to be up to the standard set last year, and admissions are expected to be down by around 25%. December is expected to be strong month, however, with family offerings The Grinch and 102 Dalmations expected to up admissions by 15% year on year, pushing admissions for the year towards the 143 million mark.
