Dismal Defeat Boosts BBC One

England V Spain England’s dismal 1-0 defeat in a friendly against Spain drew 6.3 million adult viewers to BBC One last night, with 28.6% of the adult television viewing population seeing a woeful performance from McClaren’s men.

The return of entrepreneurial business reality show, Dragon’s Den, attracted an audience of almost three million, giving BBC Two a 12.8% share, whilst the second instalment of Party Animals failed to impress.

The channel took a 5.3% share, as around 1.2 million adults tuned in to the new political drama to gain insight into the weird world of Westminster.

ITV1 fared rather better, with police soap The Bill gaining just over five million (22.4%) and romantic comedy Something’s Gotta Give, starring Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton, netting 3.6 million (17.2%) before the ITV News and around 2.3 million (23.8%) for the end of the film.

Unlike the England football team, Kirstie and Phil’s Relocation, Relocation on Channel 4 put up a good fight, with 2.9 million adults seeing a couple flee Fulham for the fresh air and countryside of Leicestershire and Lincolnshire.

The programme took a 12.8% audience share before celebrity chef Jamie Oliver gained a 12% share with 2.6 million adult viewers for Jamie’s Chef.
