Disney and ITV to share content in new partnership

Disney and ITV have entered a “first-of-its-kind” partnership that will make their content available on each other’s streaming services.
A selection of programmes, to be updated regularly, will be billed as “Taste of ITV” on Disney+ and “Taste of Disney” on ITVX, beginning on 16 July.
On Disney+, ITV shows available will include Mr Bates vs The Post Office, A Spy Among Friends and Love Island.
Meanwhile, Disney content on ITVX will include The Bear, Andor and Only Murders in the Building.
The deal extends the two companies’ existing relationship. ITV is already the free-to-air broadcast partner for Renegade Nell and the forthcoming Under the Bridge.
In addition, ITV Studios produced Disney+ shows including Rivals and the return of Blind Date.
Calling it a “mutually beneficial alliance”, ITV managing director of media and entertainment Kevin Lygo pointed to the two businesses’ “complementary audiences”.
The “innovation collaboration” will “allow us to bring Disney+ customers some of the UK’s favourite and buzz-worthy shows and encourage ITVX viewers to discover some of Disney+’s award-winning series and blockbuster films”, added Joe Earley, Disney Entertainment’s president, direct-to-consumer.
