Disney Channel Launch Marred By London Cable Problems

The much-hyped launch of the Disney Channel on Sunday evening did not run as smoothly as expected when eager London viewers were unable to see the channel. Westminster Cable viewers did not see the first night’s programmes because of technical problems, which Westminster Cable is still investigating.

The channel kicked off with a British television premier of The Jungle Book at 6.30pm, followed by an Elton John Special. Unofficial overnight figures show the channel achieved an audience of 10 TVRs, around 2 million viewers.

Disney Channel, which is part of the Sky Movies Multi-channel package, does not take any advertising, and has no plans to do so in the future.
