Disney Channel to make first UK production

The Disney Channel is to make its first ever TV production in the UK, due to air this autumn.

Set in Cheshire’s Arley Hall, Evermoor will tell the story of an American 14 year old girl who discovers a magical tapestry that can apparently predict the future, and is to become the first UK Disney production to be shown on Disney’s US channel.

Described as a “multi-part movie,” the four-part series is to be produced by Lime Pictures, whose portfolio includes Fresh Meat and The Only Way Is Essex, and will air in more than 160 countries.

David Levine, vice president of programming, production and strategic development for Disney Channels in Europe, said that the production of Evermoor will give Disney a “great opportunity” to work with British talent, both in front of and behind the camera.

“We will take full advantage of the fact it is a series set in a British village, with an incredible British backdrop and location at the heart of the story,” he said.

“You’ll see a lot of imagery and settings that will be very different to things we have done before but it is produced for a global audience.”
