Distance Selling Draft Amended

The European Union draft “distance selling” directive, which would have prevented advertisers from demanding cash with orders has been amended after lobbying.

The directive now omits all reference to the proposed ban on cash with order. Under the previous draft, consumers ordering goods by post would have been entitled to wait for the goods to arrive before payment.

The European Parliament is due to consider the draft directive later this year.
