Dixons Increases Radio Advertising Spend By 56% In Year To November

Electrical High Street retailer, Dixons, has increased its advertising spend on radio by 56.2% year on year for the twelve months to November 1999. According to moving annual total figures from ACNielsen MMS, compiled by the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB), Dixons was the third largest radio advertiser in the year to November with a total spend of £9.5 million.

BT came in second with a total spend of £9.8 million, whilst the Central Office of Information topped the table with a £10.9 million spend. Mobile phone companies maintained their traditionally high radio spend, with Vodafone and Carphone Warehouse coming in fourth and fifth respectively.

Figures include all Commercial Radio station advertising, but not promotions, for the most recent 12 months’ complete records. Mediacom TMB’s figures include all spend over the last and previous 12 months by the merged Mediacom TMB, and the previously separate Mediacom and The Media Business (see Media Business In £28 Million Takeover Deal).
