Daily Mail and General Trust’s national newspaper advertising revenue has fallen 16% in the 11 months to 31 August 2009.

In a trading statement released today, DMGT said that regional advertising was down 31%.

Overall revenue in the first 11 months was down 9%.

“We are confident that we will at least meet market expectations for adjusted profits for the full year due to decisive actions taken on costs, with £150 million savings delivered,” it said.

Since 30 June, the company has cut 200 jobs, making a total reduction of over 1,500 in the period, including job losses from the closure of three regional printing plants at Grimsby, Leicester and Bristol.

Although DMGT said trading conditions at its consumer media division were difficult, advertising revenue at its regional newspapers is stabilising.

DMGT announces its full year results on 26 November 2009.
